Too much "bright people"

This morning on Power102.1fm Trinidad & Tobago, talk show host Wendell Stephen said he wants to thank the Prime Minister for getting Volney off the bench and by extention, out of the Cabinet of T&T. Now, Wendell is not the only one who feels this way, many more feel exactly the same way, some of m,y FB friends have expressed horror at the fact that this man would soon be the Cabinet. I must confess that I initially liked the man, but it's a great feeling when someone can enlighten you, now that as time passed, Volney was now exposing himself. But who knows, the man may genuinely have a good heart, he may very well mean well.

Anyways, I wanted to say that this is simply a result of how society is structured. Here we have a man who went through the system, educating himself and all the rest, he became a judge, he over some years decided on the fate of persons who would have come before him. The problem as I see it is society lifting persons up because of the so called qualifications they gain. But what of the most important qualification as it relates to human development?

We are doing it to ourselves, we look down on those who are not "high society", those who are considered to have no education, no letters to their names. I am certain many have heard the phrase, the problem is too much bright people.
