Where are those links?

It seems no one has any respect for online content. On several blogs, online media sites etc, you would come across links leading to online content, mind you, those posting/including these links in their content are not responsible for it's availability, it's the owners of the linked content. And those are the entities I am referring to. It seems that those entities just don't give a damn about their "responsibility". Hey, we are living in a totally different age, information is at our finger tips, or at least it should be.

Browse any international site, no matter how old and article, you are certain to be able to follow linked articles. God forbid if you try that with local content. Will we ever understand this new technology? Or are we just going to ignore our responsibilities?

The reason why I am concerned about this is that information is of such great importance to us, that without it, we cannot make proper decisions. Information is what guides the decision making process; businessmen, house wives, the electorate, all depend on information in order to guide them as they seek to make important decisions.

As someone who engage in discussions of a political nature on a daily basis via the blogs, Facebook and Radio call in programs, it is important that I have access to as much info as possible else I would just be engaging in wild rants with no real facts or data to inform anything I would say. this is why I have serious concerns about links on web pages, that become “dead” after a while. I have contacted the Trinidad Express and Trinidad Guardian on this but to date no one has even bothered to cuss me even. Not one word. Our local newspapers all have online sites, where persons reading would share articles, link to them on their Blogs etc. But after some time, those links are no longer available, this suggests that the media houses’ IT dept. do not ensure that their articles remain stable and it’s either they are deleted or moved. Why they would do either I could never know, makes no sense at all.

Recently we’ve heard of plans to stop the Police Service from providing info to the media, everyone was in an uproar, but what good is that info in the hands of the media if only to later supress it again.

I wish someone would look into this because in today’s world technology affords us the ability to have information at our finger tips. Please join with me in demanding that this info is not plucked away.
