Hand up vs Hand out

Do not allow your Government to give you anything "free", you pay taxes. However those taxes do not mean that you must get a free Laptop, your roof fixed, a new fridge. Your taxes entitle you to proper healthcare, to security (police protection), to proper roads, efficient water supply, proper facilities at health care centres and schools for example.



But when all you can see is that your tax dollar should afford you the things that you should be working to acquire then you are just allowing governments to keep you down (dependant). When this happens governments can mount platforms and promise you everything under the sun and on top of the moon. And as each side tries to out-promise each other, your status remains stagnant whilst theirs improve.

You must demand more, demand them to tell you how they would ensure that you can fix your roof, and purchase your fridge. Demand that they tell you when you road would be paved, when your community health centres would be properly equipped to serve your community. Demand that they tell you exactly how they would ensure that the police would respond to your call for help.

Ignore everything above if you are satisfied with the “we time now cycle”. Your party would get into power one day.
